Sand Safari, a fantastic outing with fun and art for all ages!
Now running over three weeks, Sand Safari will feature DreamWorks heroes from Kung Fu Panda and all his friends carved in large sand sculptures at the Australian Sand Sculpting Championships along the foreshore and the Gold Coast Sand Trail, plus some exciting brand new elements including Sand and Sea themed sculpture and photography exhibitions.
Follow your favourite DreamWorks heroes with the Sand Trail from Tweed Heads to Loganholme. With 22 mini sculptures scattered across the coast, no matter where you are there’s a DreamWorks sculpture nearby for you to check out!
Sand & Sea Sculptures
Art attacks Surfers Paradise! See giant inflatable street art and urban interventions from international artists who take over the precinct with the Sand & Sea theme. Can you spots the massive octopus, green tentacles, or the hanging jellyfish?
Pop-up Photographic Galleries & Photography Competition
Admire the work of professionals, amateurs and students of Surfers Paradise State Primary as photographs inspired by Sand & Sea are placed on display in the Sand Safari pop-up photo galleries.
2016 Australian Sand Sculpting Championships
Watch on as 10 talented sculptors carve 10 tonnes of sand into magnificent sculptures of DreamWorks heroes, all vying for the 2016 title championship. Winners will be announced 4pm Sunday 14 February, but sculptures will remain open for viewing until Sunday 28 February.
DreamWorks Heroes Exhibition
Made from 50 tonnes of sand in total, see international sculptors over just four days create DreamWorks heroes sculptures big enough so that you can get up close and have a photo with them.
